BiblioCommons Releases New Enhanced Discovery and Online Browsing

Toronto, Ontario, November 25, 2020 — With public library buildings across North America closed or restricting access, connecting patrons with the library's collections online has never been more critical. BiblioCommons has released new functionality in the BiblioCore catalog that creates an enhanced online browsing experience facilitating endless routes for patrons to discover what to read, watch or listen to next — even when they can’t physically browse the shelves at the library.

The new BiblioCore catalog experience places a greater emphasis on staff recommendations and content. The redesigned title pages are visually appealing and invite patrons to explore and discover multiple titles to borrow. The patron discovery journey has never been as enriching and rewarding! Patrons can now browse the library's collections while also benefiting from library staff expertise and connecting with a greater community of readers, music lovers, and movie buffs.

Over the last year, BiblioCommons provided a patron preview of the new catalog design with libraries throughout Canada and the United States. Arapahoe Libraries in Colorado is the first to launch the brand-new enhanced discovery functionality, with other libraries to follow in early 2021. During the preview period, patrons have been able to test and comment on the latest changes, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Comments from patrons have included:
