The New BiblioCore Browse and Discover Experience Transforms How Users Interact with Libraries' Collections
Toronto, Ontario, April 2, 2024 — BiblioCommons is excited to share the launch of Browse and Discover, the brand-new, library-curated BiblioCore experience built to increase catalog engagement. Browse and Discover will combine powerful customization with the personalized user experiences patrons enjoy from modern streaming services and eCommerce websites and apps.
Browse and Discover will start with a custom catalog homepage and expand through numerous pages and features to encourage deep exploration of the catalog. These will maximize library control and minimize staff effort by displaying their configured items using modern, user-friendly layouts. Staff will have the flexibility to showcase everything from seasonal reading lists to archival collections, as well as create evergreen pathways like browse by age group or genre, new and on order, best sellers, and much more.
All patrons will enjoy a best-in-class experience as these pages are built to be beautiful and accessible across devices and languages. Furthermore, logged-in patrons will enjoy the personalized features they expect like easy access to saved items and recommended content based on their preferences.
Each feature of the Browse and Discover experience, starting with the library-curated homepage, will be rigorously tested and improved using the BiblioCommons Analytics Platform, the new privacy-first data feature that is included in all BiblioCommons products. Doing so will bring industry-quality optimization to the public library discovery layer for the first time. Libraries can use the BiblioCommons Analytics Platform to view their own data and make informed decisions about their use of the entire BiblioCommons suite, including Browse and Discover.
Columbus Metropolitan Library is the first Partner Library to implement the new homepage on its online catalog. "The BiblioCore Browse and Discover homepage will really change how our patrons interact with our collection. It's rare to find a discovery layer that not only enhances the patron experience but also empowers our staff to serve our community better. We are very excited to be able to curate the homepage to align with our community's values and promote a diverse range of content for different interests and age groups," shared Gregg Dodd, Director of Marketing at Columbus Metropolitan Library.
BiblioCore's Browse and Discover pages will begin testing in April 2024 and expand to other Partner Libraries through 2024 and beyond. BiblioCommons will be at PLA 2024. Visit booth #2231 or contact a BiblioCommons team member to learn more about this exciting new version of the BiblioCore catalog.
